Then the Service Dog Project Volunteer Program may be right for you.

Service Dog Project, a non-profit 501(c), seeks volunteers to help reach our mission: Provide service dogs to those in need at no cost to the recipient.

Learn-to-work Program

  •  Achieve skills in kennel responsibilities

  •  Acquire knowledge on basic care for dogs, particularly large-breed dogs

  •  Absorb the rewards of dedicating time and effort to provide service dogs to those in need

  •  Fulfill school, organization or workplace service-learning requirements.

Many Volunteer Opportunities Available for Dog Lovers Who Don't Mind Getting Their Hands Dirty! Assist with day-to-day tasks in our training center to maintain a clean, sanitary and orderly environment for our service dogs in training. Entry-level, Tier 1 & 2 - Wash Bowls - Fill Kongs - Fill water buckets - Laundry Tier 3 - Walk - Bathe - Enrichment activities with the dogs Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and accompanied by an adult. Completion of orientation is required. Needed any day 8:00 am – 5:00 p.m. Other Volunteer Roles Include: Whelping/Puppy Watcher - Whelping/puppy watcher volunteers support Service Dog Project’s breeding program by assisting staff with continuous care of our breeders and future service dogs in training. In addition to ensuring optimal development by providing physical and mental enrichment, volunteers also assist with daily tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment. Individuals must be 18 years of age. Completion of a training course is required. General Office Help: May include phone reception, data entry, copying, general mailings, folding, stuffing envelopes, thank you calls, labeling, and any other projects as assigned. This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals with computer skills and an interest in learning new things. Volunteers should be able to maintain confidentiality, be comfortable working independently and have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs. Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus. Opportunities take place during regular business hours, Monday-Friday. Media/Marketing/PR: Service Dog Project is looking for a dynamic volunteer with interest and experience in writing, editing, and communicating on social media and websites. This position is for a skilled volunteer whose efforts will contribute to Service Dog Project’s mission. Curate content for the e-Newsletter, create short articles, website, etc. Come join us!! Community Outreach Events: Are you interested in spreading the mission of Service Dog Project? Join the Outreach Events crew! By joining this dedicated, compassionate group of people, you’ll have the opportunity to represent Service Dog Project at a variety of events. We are invited to multiple events each month ranging from fairs and visits to various community facilities, benefits to networking events and more. Each event is a wonderful opportunity to create a presence in our community and build relationships with potential recipients, donors, and supporters. It can also be a great way to educate the community about our mission. Facilities, Gardening and Landscaping: Facility volunteers will volunteer in various jobs as needs arise. Duties may include weeding, seasonal gardening, mulching, raking, sweeping, painting, cleaning and washing vehicles, or completing general maintenance tasks. We could also use help with small engine repairs or specialized fields in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, light construction etc. Special Projects: Capital and Annual Campaigns, marketing, fundraising, etc. Sales skills needed.
