SDP’s main mission is donating certified Great Dane service dogs to people with balance issues due to neurological diseases or war injuries. We give preference to military veterans, first responders, and their families. SDP breeds and trains Great Danes specifically for this purpose.
Our second mission is serving our local community. The SDP farm is a known destination for all ages — from teens doing community service, to seniors in search of a meaningful task and some company, to military veterans (some with PTSD) who enjoy feeling useful and connected while doing farm chores. Our Road Show project of dogs and trainers visiting senior centers and providing much-needed smiles is a total win-win.
Our third mission is sustaining a worldwide online community of people who follow life at SDP via seven live commercial-free explore.org cameras. For viewers who are isolated due to disease or geography, or because they are among the nation’s 43 million caregivers, the online comment section of the cameras functions as a lifeline. We strive to educate and entertain, and we interact with this community daily via Trainer Talk and Mail Call.
